  1. Ok, the lensbaby is too cool.! I don't even know how to work my camera...but I still want one! I have to tell you I am such a fan of your photography. I've visited your flickr site and scrolled through your images numerous times. I have ABSOLUTELY no idea when it comes to photography, so if at any point you would like to chime in and offer advice on any photos I take of my work I would be most grateful.

I know I need to be more considerate of the lighting..but I don't work at it like I would a drawing. I don't know why I get to this final step and lose patience! It is so frustrating! Anyway, this is all to say, any tips/criticism you offer, especially with regard to photographing products is very appreciated!

  2. Thanks Suzanne - I feel the same way about your sketches! I thought you did a great job with your stationery photos - loved the one with the pencil shavings.

Lighting really can make or break a photo. I take 99% of my photos in natural light (hate the flatness of a flash). I'm very low tech with my "studio" shots (like my "bare necessities" post back in October) - I take a large piece of white foam core, go out on my shaded front porch on a sunny day, put the foam core on a table and my item on the foam core and then snap away.

Let me know if you try it - would love to see the results.

  3. Thanks so much for the tip. It's nice to know that you don't have to have a ton of equipment to get a nice image. I'll be testing your suggestion out soon..
